    multiplication

  • The process or skill of multiplying
  • generation: the act of producing offspring or multiplying by such production
  • a multiplicative increase; “repeated copying leads to a multiplication of errors”; “this multiplication of cells is a natural correlate of growth”
  • The process of combining matrices, vectors, or other quantities under specific rules to obtain their product
  • an arithmetic operation that is the inverse of division; the product of two numbers is computed; “the multiplication of four by three gives twelve”; “four times three equals twelve”

    calculator

  • Something used for making mathematical calculations, in particular a small electronic device with a keyboard and a visual display
  • an expert at calculation (or at operating calculating machines)
  • a small machine that is used for mathematical calculations
  • A calculator is a small (often pocket-sized), usually inexpensive electronic device used to perform the basic operations of arithmetic. Modern calculators are more portable than most computers, though most PDAs are comparable in size to handheld calculators.

    fraction

  • A dissenting group within a larger one
  • A small or tiny part, amount, or proportion of something
  • A numerical quantity that is not a whole number (e.g., 1/2, 0.5)
  • a small part or item forming a piece of a whole
  • a component of a mixture that has been separated by a fractional process
  • divide: perform a division; “Can you divide 49 by seven?”

fraction multiplication calculator – Sharp Electronics

Sharp Electronics EL-W535XBSL Engineering/Scientific Calculator
Sharp Electronics EL-W535XBSL Engineering/Scientific Calculator
The EL-W535XBSL performs over 300 advanced scientific functions while utilizing Sharp’s Write View Technology. The 4-line display and multi-line playback make scientific equations easier for students to solve. It is ideal for students studying general math, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics, biology, chemistry, and general science. The variety of functions the EL-W535XBSL performs will assist students in various fields of study including math and science as well as other functions. The extra large LCD screen displays 4-lines vertically and 16-digits horizontally, providing more space to solve long equations. Formulas and functions, such as fractions, are displayed on the calculator the way they are written in textbooks. Students are able to quickly recognize formulas just as they have seen them in the classroom and enter equations exactly as they are written in textbooks. Operate the calculator using three different modes: Normal mode used to perform arithmetic operations and function calculations, Stat used to perform statistical operations and Drill to practice math and multiplication table drills. Under the Drill function you can choose to solve 25, 50 or 100 questions. Choose between addition, subtraction, multiplication, division or mixed operations (questions with all four operations). The playback mode gives you the ability to recall previous equations and answers. You can also edit results and make changes to formulas easily. The programmable keys offer quick access to the functions you use the most. Access up to four functions (you program) with the touch of a button.

Multiplication
Still in Tabgha.

A small catholic church for the Feeding of the 5,000 was first built on this site in 350 AD. In 1982 this was replaced by the modern Church of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes that stands today, which is a faithful reconstruction of the original. Designed by the Cologne architects Anton Goergen and Fritz Baumann, the church now belongs to the Order of the Benedictines.

Under the altar table is a block of limestone venerated as the table of the Lord. This is the traditional site of the miracle of the Loaves and the Fishes.

Educational Insights MathShark
Kids will want to practice their math on this portable skill-building ELA that turns math into a video game. MathShark quizzes eight different skill levels in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, and percentages, and works as a full-function calculator with the press of a button. Problems are displayed on the LCD screen either vertically or horizontally. Answers receive immediate feedback with colorful flashing lights and tones. Sets are timed, and the elapsed time plus a message appear at the end of each set. As they see their time improve, kids are continually motivated to beat it, just like when they play a video game. The more they play, the more they learn. Requires two “AA” batteries (not included). Measures 10″ x 6.1″ x 3.9″.

Educational Insights brings a terrific idea to life in Math Shark, a combination skill-building tool and calculator. The shape, colors, flashing lights, and beeps–all reminiscent of a hand-held electronic game–will appeal to kids who may not otherwise be interested in practicing math. (Parents: the sound is unobtrusive, but can be turned off.) Math Shark offers eight different skill levels and seven skill groupings: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions, and percentages. After every question a red or green flashing light and a corresponding beep let you know whether or not you answered correctly. If you get one wrong, the right answer flashes, and the question keeps appearing, along with any others answered incorrectly, until you get it right. After each set an encouraging comment–“You did it!” or “Way to go!”–comes up on the screen. The sets are timed, and your score, based on how long it took to answer all the questions correctly, appears at the end. When practice is done for the day, Math Shark becomes a handy calculator. Requires two AA batteries, not included. –Rachel Radway
